This page has links to examples that illustrate my work and creativity in more detail than what a two-page resume can possibly do.

Academic work

Regulatory reform proposal

My peer reviewed article has been published by Shinzansha. It is about banking supervision inefficiencies and the proposal in improving it by introducing market discipline. The article is available here.

Book review

My first book review was published by Shinzansha in 2022. The birth of Trump administration is analyzed from the perspectives of hidden immigration issue (Adios America, by Ann Coulter) and the AI/big data capitalism (The age of surveillance capitalism, by Shoshana Zuboff). The review is available here. The review is written in Japanese.

The second book review (column) was just published in July 2024. Based on three books by Carol Roth the danger of forced digital custody that will be the foundation of the emerging digital economy is discussed. It is also written in Japanese; available here.

White paper and creative business solutions

Financial data visualization

A picture can tell a thousand words but a poorly formatted chart ends up conveying less story and often confusing a lot. Using actual US Treasury yield curves data charts created with Excel built-in default setting and custom formatted version are compared.

Bitcoin in plain financial language

Bitcoin remains poorly understood. This white paper is written for those who have experiences or understanding of banking and financial systems. The readers will appreciate unique aspects of bitcoin vis-à-vis existing financial systems.

Cloud based simulation engine

The best part of the cloud might not come from scaling on-demand and pay-as-you-go benefits. Rather employing unique services and architecture capabilities only available in cloud could be transformational in how business is run. This white paper focuses on the cloud application for financial simulation engine.

RWA calculator

One of the biggest banks in the world was about to initiate a multi-million, multi-year RWA (Risk Weighted Asset) calculator implementation project. I developed an alternative Excel custom functions in a few days, which became enormously popular amongst hundreds of users globally; over a decade later it remains extremely popular.

http spy java web browser

“View source” option from a web browser shows HTML text but it still does not show some data exchange between the browser and the web host. I developed a java based web browser to show hidden communication between the browser and the web server in order to show additional details, which could be critical for a web developer.

Corporate logo and homepage development

I designed corporate logo and marketing schematics for a Japanese tech start-up. In retrospect the idea was cloud computing for small regional banks so they could jump start and expand FX trading.

FX trading administration site

Another biggest banks in the world bought a vendor package solution to implement FX trading capabilities over internet. The administrative functions were barely available. I developed an administration website to make position queries and backend management efficient.

FX technical analysis

My boss and I were responsible for creating and sending FX technical chart analysis reports every day to hundreds of clients globally. When I joined the bank the report was physically assembled by cutting charts manually with scissors and hand writing commentary. I created MS Office automation so that the production of the charts and comments were completely done electronically.

Co-op home page development

I designed and implemented a website for a coop where I was a treasurer.

Photography

Original World Trade Center

I had taken over 500 photographs of the original twin towers. The composition tells a lot about my unique vision in how to capture and represent objects.
